Intelligent Network Interface Server (INIS) interworks with the Application Server (AS) and provides intelligent network services for existing PSTN subscribers. INIS enables interworking between Broadband convergent Network (BcN) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and is located between AS and Legacy Service Switching Point (SSP)/Intelligent Peripheral (IN-IP). In the case of BcN, INIS directly communicates with AS to receive service logic data. However, in the case of PSTN, INIS cannot directly communicate with AS, therefore INIS supports inter-working between SSP of PSTN and IN-IP to receive service logic data.
