Signaling Gateway(SG) is responsible for translating signaling messages between All-IP network and legacy SS7 network. With SG, operators can install and connect softswitch, SCP, and core equipment of the mobile communication network with wide bandwidth at a reasonable cost. Therefore, the operator can easily install new systems or extend existing systems.
SG provides the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), MTP-L3 User Adaptation Layer (M3UA) and SCCP User Adaptation Layer (SUA) SIGTRAN protocol defined in the IETF SIGTRAN Working Group.
SG supports redundancy through load-sharing with STP systems in the legacy network, and provides failover using SCTP path redundancy and the mated-SG in the IP network. This redundancy supports flexible and stable configuration of the SS7 network.
